STUDENTS PAST AND PRESENT
Lee Pender: After studying with me 2 years Lee won a scholarship
to the National
Guitar Workshop for his recording of the legendary Joe Pass's
solo rendition of the classic "Night and Day" without
over dubs. Lee put together a rock trio and played around the
New York city club scene. When he was 17, he was showing up
at jams at "The Studio" and sending people twice his
age scurrying for the woodshed.
Peter Brown: at the age of 12 Peter was playing "Blackbird"
by the Beatles, which we learned together, at a local NYC music
store. He was approached by a man who heard him and asked him
who his teacher was. Peter's playing was responsible for that
man, who turned out to be Joel Rosenman, creator of "Woodstock"
to study with me.
Mookie Singerman: Mookie is an unusually creative guy who would
as a kid have his telephone headset on talking to his friends,
television on, doing his homework, and always had a guitar in
his lap playing in between the other activities. A true multitasker
, Mookie started the band Emily's Batmitzva which played around
NYC and New Jersey.
Annabel Seymour: Annabel has a lovely voice and after about
a year of lessons
recorded her version of Lauren Hill's song, "Se La"
where she sang played the guitar and overdubbed harmonies. It
came out beautifully.
This is just a very short list of dozens of students who
are out there gigging, playing, writing tunes and spreading
the positive message of music.
